Trisakti University, is the only private university in Indonesia which was established by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia on 29 November 1965 by Decree of the Minister of Higher Education and Science (PTIP) 013/dar No. 1965 signed by Dr. Sjarif Thajeb. November 29 is then set as the birthday of the University of Trisakti.
The delivery process begins with the destruction of Trisakti University Respublika by the University in 1965 for being involved in the movement of the Indonesian Communist Party in September 1965 from the debris - debris that's built Respublika Trisakti University.
The name given by Dr. Trisakti University. Ir. Sukarno, President of the Republic of Indonesia at that time. Trisakti meaning is taken from a speech Dr. Ir. Sukarno, that is sovereign in the field of politics, self-sufficient in the field of economic and cultural personality. The foundation of this is a milestone in efforts Trisakti University to educate the youth of the nation participate in various aspects, such as intellectual, emotional, spiritual and social sensitivity toward others, gets the wisdom and fairness.
In the early establishment of Trisakti University has five faculties, namely Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of Engineering, which has 4 (four) departments namely the Department of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Architecture.
Currently, in the journey, Trisakti University has had 9 (nine), faculty of Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning, Faculty of Industrial Technology, Faculty of Earth and Energy Technology, Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Engineering Environment, and Faculty of Art and Design, with the number 23 (twenty three) Degree Program and 5 (five) Diploma Program. In addition there is the Graduate who has 8 (eight) Master Program and 2 (two) Doctoral Program.
On his way up to now the University of Trisakti experiencing a variety of events, one of the most monumental is the tragedy of May 12, 1998 incident which has resulted in the death of 4 (four) Trisakti University students. The death of the four college students has become a trigger Indonesian student movement in overthrowing the New Order and is seen as the beginning of the rise of Indonesian Reform era. This event is considered very Monumental because of the incident, has undermined the New Order government which has held power in this country for more than 32 years.
Since it is known as Trisakti University Campus Heroes Reform and determined to continue to stand in front to keep flying the banner of reform with idealism Kadeham (Nationalism, Democracy and Human Rights).
After 7 (seven) years the event was over, finally in 2005 the Government of the Republic of Indonesia by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Bintang Jasa Pratama bestow the awards, with Presidential Decree No. 057/TK/2005 dated August 9, 2005. Underlying these awards, because the four students who died had been credited as the Warriors Reform and encourage reform that allows the occurrence of a fundamental change in the Indonesian State, towards a democratic life.
Teaching Systems
The education system is referred to by the entire scope of the University Studies Program at Trisakti is Semester Credit System (SKS), which can be defined as a system of education that uses the semester credit units (credits) to indicate the study load of students, students' learning experience, faculty workload and expense implementation of the program.
Semester is a continuous piece of time in which students learn with a number of load credits that have been planned at the beginning of the semester. In each semester is set schedule of academic activities for 16 to 19 weeks of lectures. In addition to lectures or practical implementation, in this period made other academic support activities as well as assessment or evaluation activities.
