Management

Before we discuss the problems of management and strategic planning we need to first understand the underlying strategic thinking. Strategic thinking is the basis for strategic planning, and is more intuitive. The purpose of strategic thinking is to help us exploit the good challenges that can be foreseen and which are not in the future, not just prepare for one kernungkinan in the future.

Point of strategic thinking in the new paradigm of planning is to help organizations identify, respond, and niempengaruhi changes in its environment. He is an investigation to obtain information and opportunities, which can ensure its competitive advantage based on core capabilities (core competence), the strength and experience that has dimilikinya.Kegiatan This includes identifying opportunities for innovation and ways to influence new things that emerged, including ways to reach new desires such as growth, development, or development of new knowledge and skills. Similarly, it is an opportunity to leave the programs, policies and strategies that are no longer suitable or effective anymore at this time. (Sanders, 1998).

Strategic thinking leads to the perspective, while long-term planning to the position, while the tactical planning to the performance.

Strategic thinking leads to the values, philosophical beliefs of the managers in charge of guiding the organization to pursue a successful trip; mission, the concept of the entire organization; vision, such as whether the organization's future performance, and strategies and the intended direction by the organization. Strategic thinking requires the active involvement of all key decision makers at various levels of the organization. In addition, strategic thinking can be one of the most effective process to develop a sense of unity and mutual support among members of the management team on the organization concerned. (Morrisey, 1996).

Strategic thinking begins with exploration of the environment, with the intuitive, visual, and creative that produces a synthesis of themes, issues, patterns, relationships and opportunities that arise. He has two components, namely the view into the (insight) about the current situation and the views out (foresight) about the future (Sanders, 1998).

Capability analysis is a critical factor in Strategic thinking. In strategic thinking, a person must first have a clear understanding of the specific character of each element and the related situation faced by, then leverage the capacity to think as much as possible in order to analyze and restructure the elements in question in order to provide maximum benefits for organization. (Ohmae, 1982).
