    South Sulawesi
    South Sulawesi is a province of Indonesia which is located in the southern part of Sulawesi. Its capital is Makassar, formerly called Ujungpandang.

    Location Region South Sulawesi 0o12 '- 8' south latitude and 116o48 '- 122o36' east longitude which is restricted to the North West of Sulawesi, the East Bay of Bone and Southeast Sulawesi, West of the Straits of Makassar, the South Flores Sea.

    South Area 46717.48 km2 Population 2009 ¬ + 8.3 Million People and consists of 24 regencies / cities are 21 districts and 3 municipalities which has 4 local tribes namely Bugis, Makassar, Mandar, and Toraja.

    Economy:

    Economy grows 7.78 percent in South Sulawesi in 2008 and grew by 6.20 percent in 2009, or 7.34 percent (without nickel);
    Economic Growth in First Quarter of 2010 reached 7.77 percent and is expected to reach 8.02 percent the second Quarter;
    GDP in 2009 (ADHK) amounting to Rp 47.31 trillion and 99.90 trillion (ADHB);
    Per Capita Income USD 12.63 million in 2009.
